Abstract

In the battle to increase rail transport together with its competitiveness in land transport, corridors play a key role. The European Union gives special importance to the management of rail freight corridors, which represents the most important part of its Regulation 913/2010. This organized way of managing the corridor has the task of defining in advance all procedures in order to make the entire process unified and user friendly. The idea is that this way of managing traffic causes taking over of a certain amount of goods from road to rail, which is considerably more efficient in terms of transport of goods and has a lesser impact on the environment compared to other modes of transport. The paper presents a defined managing structure with tasks, responsibilities of the appropriate bodies, as well as the way in which the management system of the railway freight corridor operates.
