Abstract

Railway station Šid represents an important point on Corridor X through which transits a large part of international rail freight. There is a significantly lower contribution of passenger traffic. Therefore, it is very important that the technological process of the work of the station be harmonized with working conditions that occur in practice.

The improvement of the transport process and the development of rail transport are unthinkable without optimization, and optimization is unthinkable without modeling. This paper is primarily based on analysis of the work of the border station in freight traffic, modeling technology and optimizing the total cost of technological operations with freight trains. It is tested on the example of the Šid Railway Station. In order to reduce the retention time of trains in border stations, it is necessary to use a new information system.
