Abstract

This paper provides a review and analysis of certain indicators in the regional passenger transport on the Belgrade – Pančevo – Vršac route. Being a region with a significant geographical position and developed economy, southern Banat has not been an exception over the past few decades when it comes to the reduction or extinction of passenger traffic and discontinued regional railroads. This trend has been lately changing as a result of investments in the railway infrastructure and fleet, as well as changes in transport organization. This paper aims at recognizing the effects of the investments already realized and setting an example which may be applied to other regional lines in the Republic of Serbia. In its conclusion, the paper gives suggestions on how to make further improvements. The data used here are taken from the relevant records of the railway operator for the period from 2012 to 2019.
